Welcome to Panders Workshop...

I've been taking pictures since about 1990. My ideas have slowly evolved from traditional chemical process photography to scanning in my pictures to a computer. This has continued to manipulating more than just exposures. I now work with completely digital images and go beyond what would be possible in the darkroom.

Even though I'm grateful for my training in traditional photography and credit it for giving me my "eye" for pictures - I think its only inevitable that visual images are becoming more and more digital. In fact, many of my most recent works have never been printed out... and never were intended to be.

Digital art, especially if its on the Internet, has the potential to reach millions of people, whereas if art is printed in limited editions, only an elite few are able to enjoy it. In this day of high commercialism in the art world, this is a somewhat radical statement, but I feel the that my true duty as an artist is to inspire people and hopefully add to the beauty of the world. For this reason, nothing that I create is for sale, but is given freely to all. The creative process, like many things, can be a spiritual process... how could I sell that?

Much of what I create is inspired by the beauty of the places I have been, experiences Ive had, and people Ive met. Its been my pleasure to spend the winter of the last three years living in a community on Big Island Hawai'i, Kalani Honua. The magic and energy of this land, along with all of the people that make up the extended Kalani ohana have been so important to me in more ways than I can express. Hawai'i has also been important to my practice of yoga, weightlifting, and bodywork, as well as fostering a deep love for the Earth, Universe, and Life.

A Note to Other Artists: I am looking for people interested in digital art, photography, Flash or Shockwave Media, web design... or really anything else who are interested in trading ideas, doing some kind of collaboration, or even forming some kind of collective. Im open to whatever ideas you might have. The whole idea is for each of us to try something new, go outside our comfort zone, learn new things, and maybe get inspired. If you are interested, please let me know.

Just a quick comment on the Full Moon pictures. They are all images taken with a digital camera using ambient light from the full moon. Most of the exposures were about 64 seconds long. Any blurry images are the result of movement and the large balls of light are people spinning fire or glowsticks.

I don't have much more to say about the images... I prefer to let them speak for themselves. I am more than happy to answer any questions anyone has about this work and would love to hear any comments about what you see.
